Whether you are earning your turns in the backcountry, gliding across groomed trails, or just getting out to play in the snow, Salida Mountain Sports has you covered. Our demo and rental fleet is hand-picked and maintained by people who ski these mountains every day, so you can head out with confidence.

Rental Policies
- Renters pay full retail for gear that is lost or broken beyond repair. You keep the broken gear.
- We take a credit card number as a deposit to cover lost or broken gear. It won't be charged unless needed.
- Pick up gear the evening before (after 5pm) and return it the morning after (by 11am) at no extra charge. Late pick-ups or returns, or full extra days, are charged the daily rate.
- Equipment returned dirty is charged a $10 cleaning fee.
- One day of rental can be credited toward a purchase.
Rental & Demo FAQ
Can I rent a splitboard in Salida?
Yes. Our splitboard package is $100 a day, and we demo the Jones Howler in men's and women's sizes. Call (719) 539-4400 to reserve.
What backcountry ski setups do you rent?
Alpine touring and telemark (75mm and NTN) ski and boot packages are $100 a day. Skis only are $65 and boots only are $50. Our AT demos include the Black Crows Navis Freebird and Dynafit Tigard 97, and our tele demo is the Voile Vector Ace.
Do you rent avalanche gear and skins?
Yes. Shovels and probes are $10 a day each, and climbing skins are $20 a day.
When do I pick up and return my rental?
Pick up after 5pm the evening before and return by 11am the morning after at no extra charge. Late pick-ups or returns, or full extra days, are charged the daily rate.
Do you rent cross country skis and snowshoes?
Yes. Cross country packages are $40 for adults and $30 for kids. Snowshoes with poles are $25 for adults and $15 for kids.
Is there a deposit?
We take a credit card number as a deposit for lost or broken gear. It is not charged unless needed. Gear returned dirty has a $10 cleaning fee.
Can my rental go toward buying gear?
Yes. One day of rental can be credited toward a purchase.
Do you have multi-day rates?
Yes. Ask us about multi-day rates when you call to reserve for a trip.
