Ortovox Focus Voice Avalanche Transceiver

A compact, intuitive avalanche transceiver built for backcountry skiers and beginners who want maximum support and performance without a complicated interface. The Focus Voice's patented voice navigation, 80-meter search strip width, and Smart Antenna Technology redefine what a beacon can do under pressure when every second counts.

Why We Carry It
It's the beacon we recommend for backcountry skiers who want a powerful, easy-to-use transceiver with voice guidance that reduces stress and search times in the most critical moments on the avalanche field.

Highlights

• Patented voice navigation in 10 languages — Clear spoken instructions during every search phase for calm, focused searching when stress is highest and clarity matters most. A study shows voice navigation measurably reduces stress and search times compared to display-only transceivers. Available in German, English, French, Italian, Spanish, Norwegian, Swedish, Czech, Dutch, and Japanese.
• 80-meter search strip width — One of the largest search strip widths on the market for fast, efficient coverage of the avalanche field with fewer passes. Extends to 90 meters when searching with other Ortovox transceivers equipped with Smart Antenna Technology for even faster victim detection.
• Smart Antenna Technology — Analyzes the device's position in the avalanche and automatically switches to the best transmitting antenna for up to twice the reach of a standard beacon. A higher probability of being found on the first search run in a real burial scenario.
• Largest MIP display on the market at 2.7 inches — A full-graphic 400 x 240 pixel MIP display that is stable from first signal reception and maintains optimal legibility in bright sunlight, low light, and cold temperatures where standard screens struggle.
• Stable display from first reception — No lag or instability when the signal is first detected for immediate, confident direction to the buried victim without the signal jumping or resetting on initial contact.
• Interference protection in both search and transmit mode — Automatically adapts to electronic interference sources in the field for stable signal transmission regardless of what other devices are present in a rescue scenario.
• Flagging function for multiple burials — Mark located victims and continue searching for additional burials without losing track of already-found signals. Handles up to four simultaneous avalanche victims.
• Lithium-ion battery rechargeable via USB-C down to -20°C — A rechargeable battery that performs reliably in extreme cold without the performance drop that alkaline batteries experience in real backcountry winter temperatures.
• Three-antenna circular reception — Full three-dimensional signal reception for reliable detection regardless of beacon orientation in a burial.
• Search mode switchover for secondary avalanche — Automatically switches modes if a secondary avalanche occurs during a rescue for continuous protection of the rescuer without manual intervention.
• Group check and permanent self-test — Verifies all group members' beacons are transmitting before heading into the field and continuously monitors its own function throughout the day.
• Carrying system with quick access — A harness system designed for immediate deployment in an emergency without fumbling with the device under a jacket.
• Waterproof to EN 300718 standard — Built to withstand real backcountry conditions including deep snow immersion and wet spring conditions.
• Made in Europe with 5-year warranty via Ortovox app — Register through the free Ortovox app on iOS or Android to extend the standard warranty to five years and access software updates, device checks, and training mode.
