Apparel sizing basics
Every brand cuts a little differently, so measure your body and compare it to the brand's chart instead of going by the size on your current tag.
- Chest: measure under your arms, around the fullest part of your chest and back.
- Waist: measure around your natural waist, where you normally wear your pants.
- Hip: measure around the fullest part of your hips with your feet together.
- Inseam: measure from the crotch seam of a pair of pants that fits well down to the hem.
- Layering: for shells and puffies you will wear over layers, check the brand's fit notes (slim, regular or relaxed) and size for what goes underneath.
Our apparel runs in standard XS, S, M, L, XL and XXL. Brand size charts: Smartwool and Darn Tough sock sizing. For other brands, check the brand's own size chart or ask us.
